Technique & what to listen for
Keep movements relaxed and take breaks between rounds. The app checks the sound and timing, not which hand or finger you used. Choose comfortable fingers; follow the hand sequence when practicing the rudiments.
Your 100-lesson path
The first five lessons are playable. The remaining 95 are the course plan, with timing, coordination, expression and musical judgment developed in stages. Passing a score is a checkpoint, not a substitute for listening to your playing.
How lesson progression works
Repeat the written bar eight times after the four-beat count-in. Complete two full rounds at the lesson’s accuracy target while playing at least 95% of its notes to unlock the next lesson. Successful rounds accumulate; you can revisit completed lessons. Stopping early earns no progress.
Each written sound can be matched once. Timing within 20 ms earns full credit, tapering to zero at 120 ms (or a narrower window on fast grids). Missed notes score zero; extra hits and wrong pads lower the average. A + pair requires both sounds. Empty rounds and button mashing cannot pass. Timing before the first scored beat is ignored.
Lessons temporarily use the synthesized demo kit. Your kit returns when you leave guided practice. Progress is saved in this browser at this address, so the website and local companion keep separate progress.

How scoring works
100% is exactly on the grid; halfway between grid lines is 0%. Accuracy averages all scored hits. Average error is your distance from the grid in milliseconds. A tight hit is within 30 ms, or a quarter of the grid spacing if that is smaller. The count-in, empty pads, held-key repeats, and tapping a loop to stop it are unscored. Reset score keeps the click running.
Timing measures keyboard, touch, or MIDI input, not the video or a recording of your playing. Audio output timing is used when the browser provides it; device delays can still affect results. Wired audio is best for practice. Esc, changing modes, or leaving the page stops the click.
Timing alignment Automatic alignment · no extra adjustment.
Scores compare when you press a pad with the click you hear. Output buffering and delayed delivery of input events are accounted for; the video and the later sound of your sample do not set the score.
Leave this at 0 unless you know there is a remaining timing offset. Positive values move scored taps earlier; negative values move them later. For example, +15 corrects taps reported 15 ms late. This changes scoring only, never playback speed or sound delay. Change it between rounds; it saves here for this audio mode (and each direct-audio output). Recheck it when changing your keyboard, MIDI controller, or listening device.
