Board in viewPreparing the scale maps…
Fig. 1. Two small scale maps locate one readable Ultimate board within a position of 6,561 ordinary squares.
How the levels answer back
- 1
At the nearest scale, win a familiar small board with three marks in a line.
- 2
Each line settles the board one scale above it. Four nested scales make the greatest victory.
- 3
After an ordinary move, play remains in the same larger branch; the final cell identifies the next nearest board.
- 4
Each newly settled board carries the destination outward by one scale. Consecutive wins on one move can therefore propagate through several levels.
- 5
If an exact destination is already settled, the restriction relaxes outward until an open branch is available.
